The historic restoration of this sprawling governmental seat of power first begun at the behest of ‘Ivan the Terrible’, atop the ruins of the former castle of the Kazan khans. Mark D. Kruger, MIES, added his artistry to this multi-century project, with exterior, interior and landscape lighting design. The Kremlin of Kazan was declared a UNESCO ‘World Heritage Site’ in 2000.
